The Spyglass Redemption & Pigeon Point Salt
Posted by Pat Hathaway | April 16, 2026
The Central Coast marine layer burned off just in time this morning. I’m sitting on the patio with a black coffee, icing the lower back, and looking over the last few days of glorious chaos.
Spyglass Hill and The End of a Streak
I told you guys last week I wasn’t losing three in a row to Big Boy Dan. The man’s luck finally ran out in the Del Monte Forest.
Spyglass Hill is ruthless. Dan’s historically erratic driver finally caught up with him on the 4th hole. He spent more time chopping out of the Monterey pines than the local squirrels.
I kept the ball below the hole, played the smart angles, and watched his Calvinist “elect” confidence evaporate by the turn. The streak is dead. Order is restored to the universe.
Pigeon Point & The Plastic Computer
After the golf victory, we loaded up the truck and pointed the compass north toward the coast. We hit Pigeon Point Lighthouse just as the offshore wind started howling.

Judge Roy Bacon swore the salt spray would fry my Sony α1 II. He called it a plastic computer that couldn’t handle the elements.
I stood on the bluffs taking 30 frames a second while the ocean tried to drown us. If you’ve never looked at how these modern mirrorless bodies are constructed, the internal engineering is no joke.
The weather sealing held up perfectly against the salt and moisture. I sent the Judge a razor-sharp panorama of the lighthouse with the subject line:
“Still Computing.”
Diamond Hands and New Toys
The market finally decided to cooperate this week.
AMZN finally woke up from its nap, and that little taste of
BTC I grabbed at $66k is looking like a brilliant move. I told you my strategy was to fall on my sword and stay long and strong. No weak hands here.
With the portfolio humming, I stepped on the scale. I’m twelve pounds down. The goal was to drop fifteen before I treated myself, but I drove over to
Triplet Powersports anyway.
I’m calling the last three pounds a margin of error. The new ATV gets delivered next week.
Comments
BigBoyDan: Trees got in the way.
JudgeRoy: Give it a month, Pat. The rust is coming.
