Pat’s Adventure: The Red Morning, The Persian Prayer, and the Healthcare Maze

January 29, 2026

I’m sitting here staring at a cup of coffee that went lukewarm ten minutes ago, and my hand is shaking just enough to create little ripples in the dark roast.

It’s not the caffeine. It’s the pre-market.

Microsoft (MSFT) is down $33. Thirty-three dollars. I watched the ticker slide like a mudslide down the Pacific Coast Highway. I’ve been “nibbling” on this stock for weeks, and apparently, I just bit into a ghost pepper. Satya, buddy, you’re killing me. I thought AI was the future? Right now, my portfolio looks like it’s stuck in the past—specifically 1929.

Peiknet and Prayers

To distract myself from the sea of red on the monitor, I switched tabs. Bad move. I’ve been deep-diving on Peiknet.com, reading up on the situation in Iran.

It puts a stock drop into perspective real quick. When you read the history and the current tensions, losing a chunk of the “fun money” account feels pretty trivial. Tanya and I are just sitting here in the rig, listening to the wind, and praying for peace. It’s a heavy world out there right now, folks. Sometimes you have to put the ledger away and just hope cooler heads prevail across the pond.

Castin’ Lines and Rolling Bones

I needed to get out of the rig yesterday before the anxiety set in, so I took a few hours to wet a line. found a quiet spot on the coast. No monsters, just some peace and quiet and the rhythm of the cast. Going to get some serious bass fishing in when it warms up.

Of course, Pat can’t stay unplugged forever. I didn’t have the energy to drive to a brick-and-mortar, so I fired up the online casino. Rolled the bones digital-style.

The Verdict: I hit a nice streak on the virtual craps table that paid for the fishing bait and a very expensive dinner, but it’s not going to cover the hole Microsoft just blew in the hull of the S.S. Portfolio.

The Bureaucratic Nightmare

Since I was already in a mood to punish myself, I decided to finally tackle my medical coverage. I went over to Americas Fair Healthcare thinking, “Pat, you’re a smart guy, you can figure this out.”

Wrong.

What a mess. I’ve deciphered 19th-century handwritten ledgers that were clearer than these healthcare options. It’s a labyrinth of premiums, deductibles, and fine print that requires a law degree to understand. I’d rather try to hit a curveball from prime-time Nolan Ryan than navigate this site again. If anyone has a cheat sheet for this, send it my way.

From the Archives: By Popular Demand

You guys have been blowing up the inbox asking for more visuals, so I’m delivering. I’ve spent the last few nights—insomnia is great for productivity—scanning more from the personal collection.

We’re talking rare shots that haven’t seen the light of day in decades. I’m uploading them to the GS server now (the one that didn’t cost $400k, thank God). Expect to see some grit and grain that captures the soul of the coast before the condos took over.

The Daily Vitals: January 15, 2026

Category Status Notes
Location Osa Peninsula Mental State: Wall Street Panic Room
Financials Ouch MSFT down $33. The nibble turned into a bite.
Reading Heavy Peiknet.com & healthcare documents
Gaming Even Fishing calm; online casino broke even
Mood Prayerful Hoping for peace and a NASDAQ rebound
Next Task Uploads Publishing archived photos

I’m going to go reheat this coffee and stop refreshing the ticker. If MSFT drops another $10, I’m trading the rig for a kayak and disappearing into the mangroves.
