It never stops amazing me how ridiculously beautiful California is. No matter how much of the country I see, the Golden State still feels like it’s showing off. Today, though, I pointed the compass east and left California behind, heading for Las Vegas.
Vegas is a funny place—part mirage, part human zoo. If you’re a photographer, it’s hard to beat. Everywhere you turn, there’s a story waiting to be caught mid-stride. Last night I spent about an hour in the Bovada casino, which I appreciate for one very important reason: I don’t have to inhale a cloud of cigarette smoke or dodge spilled whiskey. That alone feels like winning.
In a couple of hours, I’ll be heading north to Snake River Lodge. Different scenery, different rhythm—exactly how I like it. Somewhere between neon lights and mountain air, the adventure shifts gears.
I read a piece on Abacus News recently about how governments may soon be able to track our every step. Maybe that’s true. Maybe not. Either way, good luck tracking me where I’m going next. Some roads don’t show up on maps, and that’s just fine by me.
