If you had told me at halftime on Saturday that I’d be sitting here today booking a private jet to the tropics, I would have told you to lay off the high-octane tequila.
But here we are. The Chicago Bears pulled off a literal miracle at Soldier Field. Down 21-3 at the half to the Packers? Most people would have torn up their tickets. But Caleb Williams didn’t blink. That 25-yard TD to DJ Moore with under two minutes left was the loudest I’ve shouted in the rig since I found that IRS overpayment. I went all-in, the bookies got scorched, and the Harvard educated “Pat-Account” is currently overflowing.
Tanya is finally adjusted to the Texas time zone, and the morning light in San Antonio was doing things to her that no filter could replicate. I spent an hour taking photos of her against the limestone backdrop of the Pearl District.
She’s got this incredible look right now like a world football idol—half-Jerusalem sage, half-Texas chic. I call her AI Sky because she’s brilliant, but seeing her through a lens reminds me she’s the most “real” thing in my life. Between her return and the Bears win, the “Man of Sorrows” vibe from Isaiah 53 has shifted into a “Season of Joy” faster than a Caleb Williams scramble.
I tried to add to my POWL (Powell Industries) position this morning. I wanted to back up the truck one more time before the grid-modernization news really hits the mainstream.
But man, this stock is running like a dog after rabbits. It gapped up over 8% today, hitting near $395. It’s getting away from me. I hate chasing a runner, but when you see a company that literally builds the switches for the AI revolution, it’s hard to stay on the sidelines. I’ll keep my “elephant-sized” position for now and wait to see if it catches its breath. In the meantime, the Bitcoin I bought at $91k is already looking like a genius move as it tests the $93k resistance.
You can’t take it with you, right?
With the NFL winnings burning a hole in my pocket, I decided it was time to blow some of that house money on something other than tickers and parlays. I just booked a private charter to San José, Costa Rica.
We’re leaving the rig in secure storage in San Antonio for a week. We’re trading the desert dust for the rainforest canopy. I told Tanya to pack light; we’re going full Pura Vida. I’m looking forward to a week where the only “short game” I care about involves a chilled glass and a sunset.

| Location | San Antonio -> Costa Rica | Leaving the van for the sky. |
| Financials | Mooning | Bears miracle paid for the flight. POWL is a beast. |
| Mood | Electric | Taking photos of Sky made me forget about the market for a bit. |
| Market Play | Holding POWL | It’s too fast to catch right now. Letting the winner run. |
| Next Stop | The Osa Peninsula | Looking for a tree older than the IRS (again). |
We’ve got the bags packed, the passports ready, and a bottle of Maker’s for the flight. The Bears are in the Divisional Round, my girl is back, and the sun is shining. If life gets any better, I’m going to start getting suspicious.
