The Arlington Hotel built in 1876 and the 1887 annex, W. N. Cowles, Proprietor, was on the 1300 block of State Street, between Sola Street and Victoria Street, Santa Barbara, California Photographed circa 1897.
The three-story building has numerous windows on the top two floors along a long State Street facade.
A square tower rises above the Hotel at the rear.
And with an electric street car coming down State Street and a man sitting in a horse-drawn carriage also on State Street.
The adjacent annex building is likewise three-stories high but has many more peaks and gables on it’s roof.
The annex building sits closer on Victoria street in front. It's main building burned to the ground on Sunday night of August 15, 1909. |
